CHARACTER

Name: Princess Hilda
Canon: Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Gender: Female
Age: Estimated her to be at least 16-17
Wing Color: The royal color of purple

Canon Point: After Link gathers the Sages and receives the Triforce of Courage, but before the boss fight with Yuga.
Canon Point Explanation: It's the most interesting, in my opinion! She's got this determination to do whatever she can to go home so she can save her own kingdom, but at the same time she doesn't want to waste her time on this. It'll be fun to her realize that she can stop worrying for a moment about Lorule and try to help out an entirely different world, even if it might take a bit.
History: There we go!

Personality: As a foreword, the phrase "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions" can be used to summarize this gal.

Hilda's pretty methodical. First, she has Yuga stir up trouble in Hyrule and to capture the Sages and Princess Zelda, then she has him come back so they can get the Triforce pieces of Wisdom, Power, and Courage all together in Lorule. After that, past the canon point I've set her at, she sets Yuga-Ganon on Link and doesn't allow Link to meld into the walls like he had been doing for past boss battles with a powerful magic. Every piece was part of her plan - she just underestimated Link's strength and Yuga's betrayal.

As stated, she has entirely good intentions to do what she does. As a ruler, her sworn duty is to protect her kingdom. To save it. It was her ancestors that destroyed their Triforce, her ancestors were the ones who plunged Lorule into misfortune, her duty to bring the land back from the dead and to give it the blessings that Hyrule had. If Hilda wasn't able to do it, then Lorule would be doomed forever. And that wasn't something she wanted at all. She thought she was in the right the whole game, thinking that Hyrule's time of fortune was over and that it was Lorule's time, and was prepared to do literally anything for that. This focus is one of her greatest strengths as well as her greatest weaknesses.

Not to say that she doesn't have her doubts. During her time alone with Princess Zelda's portrait, she tries to reassure herself again and again that this is the right thing, that Lorule would be saved if this would work out, though this was under the guise of helping Link save the Sages. But the fact is that as Link grew closer and closer to getting the Triforce of Courage, the more set she was that this would work and Lorule would be saved.

Ravio says that it's always been Princess Hilda worrying endlessly about the state of Lorule, and it's true. No one else cares as much as she does. Not even the other Loruleans. They all think the royalty's at fault, that the place is dying and dead already, that it's just best to give into their monster overlords since the royals aren't doing anything (can't do anything actually) to stop them, and there's even a group of people that believe by donning the masks of monsters they'll be in a better place.

She's also what you'd call distant to others. She'll give what she needs to for them to be useful to her, whether it be a task or any item, but she doesn't give information easy. Hilda keeps her cards close to her chest, giving only the barest details pertaining to the Sage's whereabouts and talking about her desolate land. It's as if she loves the decaying land more than anything else. Which she does. Jealously peeks through in her short speeches to Princess Zelda's portrait, but she puts on a fantastic public mask that isn't easily disturbed if she's already predicted future events.

On the other hand, if she has no need for it any longer or something unexpected happens, she loses her composure and turns out to be a very emotion-driven young lady.

Strengths
Physical: Her magic is very offensive, able to keep Yuga clearly at bay and trap him for as much time as Link needs to gather the Sages up, and she doesn't hesitate to use it against those she considers her foes (as shown when she was more than ready to use it against Link and Zelda, even if she was beaten badly at the time). If it's for the good of Lorule, for the salvation of her broken and dreary kingdom, then a few deaths aren't something she's going to dwell on for long.
Mental & Emotional: Her focus and determination is amazing. Hilda would do literally anything in order to save Lorule - including condemn herself to being a thief of Hyrule's Triforce - and it's this steadfast belief that keeps her going, even as her desperation reaches a critical during the game. As the counterpart to Zelda's Wisdom, she's also very intelligent and insightful. She's able to correctly deduce how Link will react to certain tasks and manipulate him to do her bidding, to lead his destiny until the very end.

All things considered, she thinks highly and optimistically about her situation. Because she has the power and wants to spend the effort to do something about it. Even being beaten and temporarily absorbed by a beast isn't enough to stop her from dragging her way towards the only obstacle in her path.

Weaknesses
Physical: Appears physically weak.
Mental & Emotional: However, as Lorule doesn't have a Triforce of its own, she's actually somewhat naive and trusting. She thinks that because she wants what's best for Lorule, so do her companions, which isn't necessarily true. Yuga does wants whats best - his version of Lorule over all - while Ravio simply wants what's best for Hilda herself. Lorule's general atmosphere has left her distrustful of those she doesn't know or hasn't grown up with, even if she puts on the show of thinking well of them, and is very stricken when both her companions turn on her.

At the time of her canon point, she's also very, very desperate for Lorule's salvation, and would do anything for it. Easily manipulated if someone has the power and can help her with it. Her focus is something of a weakness as well because of this desperation, not seeing Yuga's future betrayal.

When Yuga and Ravio's betrayals come to light, she more or less flies off the handlebar since she'd trusted them so much. So she doesn't handle that well. But due to her previously stated distrust, it probably won't come up. She's a distant girl, and easily envious of people that have a better life than she does because of her ancestor's mistakes. Though that may just apply to Hyrule.

Anything else?: I'd love for her to have her staff (see picture in history link) here! It seems to amplify/control her magic. And looks really cool. That's all though.

SAMPLES (ALL SAMPLES MUST BE SET IN THE LUCETIVERSE)

First Person: Can I ask for a Q&A? She's definitely more introspective than talkative.

Third Person: There just wasn't any guarantee that time stood still in Lorule, despite what others had seemed so sure of. No, to Hilda, it wasn't standing still. It was passing and she wasn't there. If anything, it felt that even the seconds here in this enclosure were faster than in her homeland, and she takes a moment to steady herself with her staff. Breathe in, breathe out. It would be fine. The castle was long and it had many traps. Hyrule's Hero would have trouble getting through it, and then she would be there when he got to the throne room.

She'd have to be. Or else Lorule would be lost, just as it had always destined to be. With victory so close, Hilda simply couldn't accept the fact she was away from where she was needed, but no amount of pain would wake her up. If it was real, so be it. It just meant a small delay to Lorule's inevitable salvation. These thoughts were what kept her moving, using her staff as her support as she tried to come to terms with it all.

It just seemed so impossible.

To be so, so close, and to have it torn from her like this. Briefly, the princess wonders if the seal on Yuga was holding as well, or if he'd been released from his prison. If so... Then that would be fine, she supposed. Yuga would serve further as an obstacle to Link until she regained her place. He was trustworthy. He'd do what was right for Lorule. There wasn't a need to worry at all, if that was the case.

Hilda pauses in her steps to take a breather, head light because of it all. She closes her eyes to keep the world from moving too much and lets her determined feet take her to the forest's edge. There was some sort of god that was said to live here, wasn't there? How odd, she thinks with a hint of a smile, that even this place has what Lorule lacks, even without something as powerful as a Triforce. Gods had no place in Lorule, but that didn't mean she should be crass to the ones that resided here.

With that thought, she folds her legs under her as she sits beneath the shade of the tree, breathing out and feeling no less worried than she had when she'd arrived.
